During an initial day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reimagine” the metropolis, ushering in “a different age” and an audacious beginning to his term.

A Historic Figure

The young figure, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.

A Costly Platform

Mamdani now begins one of the most challenging jobs in American politics, with a agenda promising:
