Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international hiatus, however will the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.

My son told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
