Israelis have gathered around the country to mark two years since the Hamas-initiated attack on that fateful day in October 2023, as discussions continued in the neighboring country over a conclusion to the war in Gaza.

The incident saw more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken back to Gaza as prisoners. It was the most most fatal day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Israel reacted by initiating a military offensive in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are considered accurate by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"Our aggressive opponents have struck forcefully, but they have not defeated us," the leader added on Tuesday.

He also promised to "achieve all the goals of the war: the release of all the captured, the destruction of the Hamas government and the assurance that Gaza will not present a danger to Israel".

Memorial Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled official commemorations until October 16th - after the conclusion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but ceremonies still were held across the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the loved ones of people killed in the Hamas attack was conducted in the coastal city. Put together by the affected families, it was aired across Israeli broadcast stations.

A period earlier, a moment of silence was held across the country.

Ceasefire Discussions in Egypt

Simultaneously, both sides' representatives gathered in the North African tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to discuss the terms of the plan.

A senior delegate familiar with the negotiations indicated that an night meeting of indirect talks started at 7 PM local time.

The official stated the morning session concluded without significant progress, amid disagreements over the proposed Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not recommence fighting after the first phase of the deal.

He noted that the discussions are "tough and have not yet produce any major advancement," but noted that facilitators are working hard to narrow the differences between the conflicting groups.

Essential Issues in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The trade of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The pullout of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for relief supplies deliveries
  • After-conflict governance of the region

Civilian Feeling

In the city's public square that day, 29-year-old a woman - whose sibling survived the attack on the Nova music festival, where many attendees were murdered and numerous more were taken hostage by Hamas fighters - shared: "Nowhere appears as home anymore and until each abducted person come back none of us will feel safe."

"After we see all home returned, we can feel relief once more. Then we can start to heal," she continued.

In front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official dwelling in the capital, people gathered to demonstrate their solidarity for the loved ones of the abducted. Israel states 48 continue in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are considered to be living.

Activist Atalia Regev remarked: "We must do whatever arrangement needed for the abducted to return. But we really want assurances that we will be protected."

Surveys now consistently show that approximately the majority of the population prefer the hostilities to end in as payment for the release of the captives.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of the music event, mourners gathered to honor the dead.

From the site, the sound of aerial bombardments and shelling could be heard just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where witnesses indicated the heavy Israeli shelling carried on.

In Gaza City, bombardments were documented in the morning of Tuesday in the western Tal al-Hawa, area and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the east side district of that sector, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"When the night falls, the fear comes with it," evacuated urban resident a mother, whose 17-year-old son was killed by an Israeli bombing earlier, explained.

"My family are afraid of the air strikes. During nighttime we are sleeping together, holding each other, notably my little child who rests his head on me all night."

"Every second we monitor the reports to see developments. And I'm afraid that this truce will not be achieved and that the conflict will come back to us."

Health Crisis

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had accepted the corpses of half dozen people by the afternoon, including three killed in an Israeli strike in the southern area.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of the city reported additional dead people had been transported. A person was lost his life by Israeli forces while looking for help to the southern area, medical staff stated.

Gaza's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
