Recent details have emerged about the tragic demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

Additionally pushed back against circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
