Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, bringing wind gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Locals observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around 1,000 households in the southern state also faced power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, more than 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across various areas of both areas.

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
